Methi Chole !

If you are a regular follower of this blog, then by now you will know my obsession or chickpeas or chole. I keep trying different dishes with chickpeas and combine with each and everything I found in my pantry. This will be a very quick dish when you have boiled chole at home. It is rich in protein and other nutrients from methi too. Check out the other chickpea recipes in the blog

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups boiled chole
  • 1 cup methi (tightly packed)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 big onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • salt as needed
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • lemon wedges to serve

STEPS
  • Soak chickpeas overnight and pressure cook them till they are cooked soft.
  • Heat oil in a kadai/pan, add jeera followed by ginger garlic paste and chopped onions.
  • Saute the onions till they are slightly brown and then add tomatoes and cook.

  • Add all the spice powders, salt and a splash of water and cook till oil leaves
  • Then add methi leaves and cook with the masala till the leaves cook and  reduce in volume.

  • Add boiled chole, toss well with the leaves and masala.
  • Add garammasala , close and cook for couple of minutes and turn stove.

NOTES

  • This is a dry version , so I haven't added more water to the dish.
  • Adjust spices as per taste.
  • Squeeze lemon juice and serve with hot rotis/rice.
  • you can also replace methi with spinach and proceed with the dish.

With Love,
