Cherry Limeade !

Guess what.. today is the hottest day of the decade in UK. For a minute I felt I am back in Chennai when I was out mid day. It had shooted up to 34 deg C all of a sudden and I badly needed something to cool me up. So quickly made this wonderful combo to quench my thirst.!

  • 2 cups chilled water
  • 1 cup sparkling water  / club soda
  • 1/4 cup lime juice ( 2 medium limes)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 7 - 9 fresh ripe cherries (gives 1/4 cup puree)
  • few mint leaves
  • few ice cubes
  • In a jug / vessel take 3 cups chilled water, add the lime juice to it along with sugar and stir well to dissolve the sugar.
  • Remove the seeds fro cherries and make them to a puree.

  •  Add this cherry puree to the limeade made in last step. Stir well and pass the whole liquid through a strainer to remove the cherry skin and any lime pulp.
  • Pour into glasses, add mint leaves and ice cubes.
  • Lastly pour the soda  / sparkling water in the glass.

  • Replace the sparkling water / soda with plain water only.
  • Use strawberries in place of cherries. That taste great too.
  • Increase lime juice if you want it more tangy.
  • If no fresh cherries available, use store bought cherry extract.

With Love,

  1. Awesomely done .... Have a bag of cherries and pretty hot too ... Can we store this and have Pavithra ?

    1. HI Sandhya, yes y ou can store it for one or two days without the sparkling water or soda.
Or if u want to store for more days, make like a cherry lime concentrate (just one cup water, cherry puree, lime juice and sugar). WHen u want to drink, just add few tbsp of this concentrate, chilled water, soda and ice cubes with mint leaves n u are done in minutes
