Onion Chutney !


Hello Everyone.. Its another simple chutney recipe but tastes great with idli n dosas. Who wouldn't love to try different variety of chutneys and this is one more to my chutney list. When you absolutely do not have anything for a chutney like coconuts, peanuts, tomatoes, carrot then Onion comes to the rescue. 
I have already posted a version of Onion Chutney, the RAW ONION CHUTNEY and this one is a different version. Though the ingredients that goes in are almost same in both the versions the method alone differs.

STEPS
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the urad dal and channa dal till slight golden brown.
  • Then add the dry red chillis and garlic and fry everything together.

  • Remove the red chillis from the and if they are getting too dark and burnt , and then add the onions.
  • Saute them well till they become soft and translucent.
  • Just blend them all together with salt and tamarind.
  • For the tadka, heat oil, add urad dal,mustard, followed by jeera, hing and dry red chillis. 
  • Pour this tadka on chutney and give a mix.
NOTES
  • You can add a piece of ginger too.
  • Tempering (Tadka) part is purely optional as already the ingredients are sauted in oil . But tadka does give a nive flavor especially give you have curry leaves  do add them.
  • Adjust number of chillis as per your spice level.
