Little Millet Veg Pulao / Saamai Pulao !



I have already posted some millet recipes HERE and this is one more addition to my healthy recipe list. If you are looking for ways to include millets in your daily diet this is one good option with loads of veggies in it. It is a simple one pot meal and can be served with a raita of your choice.

STEPS
  • Grind the items given under "To Grind" in the table. 
  • In a cooker heat oil, and add elachi and bay leaves. Then add the cumin seeds and hing.
  • Throw in the sliced onions and curry leaves and saute them well.
  • When  the onions turn translucent add all the chopped veggies. (Peas, corn , cauliflower etc  can also be added).
  • Saute the veggies for 2 minutes.
  • Then add the ground masala to it and saute for a minute. 
  • Add water, salt , turmeric and chilli powder.

  • Add the washed millet to it and give a mix. Close the cooker and cook for two whistles.
  • Wait till the pressure releases,  squeeze lime juice if desired.
